Quote of the Day: BELIEVE IN YOURSELF

“Just don’t expect those close to you to appreciate your drive, your talent, or even your hard work.”

The above quote is taken from the book, Tears and Trombones: Based on a True Story, by Nanci Lee Woody.

You must admit, sometimes the people who are supposed to support you the most – like family and loved ones – are the ones who don’t believe in your dreams. They may have their reasons for not supporting you, but instead of getting discouraged, just look at the bright side, and remember these few things:

You DON’T NEED THEIR APPROVAL to succeed. You are accountable only to yourself. The moment you decide to do something to achieve your goal, which may seem odd to others, you get away from the need for approval.

You are UNIQUE. Every individual person has a distinct character, skills, and talents. Even identical twins have different points of view on things.

You are RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PEOPLE who don’t believe in you. Ironic? Ok, they may see you like a bit crazy. But the thing is, they just don’t see the world as you see it. Don’t look down at them, though. If your heart is in the right place, whatever you may be pursuing will impact people, including those who don’t believe in you. As you move closer to your goal, they will begin seeing with their own eyes what you can do. And they now support you. You become joyful, not because you have changed their heart, but it’s because your feeling of insecurity, doubt, and lack of support have dissipated. You never let the faith in yourself vacillate. And because you are resolute, you have changed the behaviors of non-believers.

Didn’t you know that changing someone’s thinking and behavior is one of the hardest things to do?
